Mary Frances Golden,
the daughter of Minna and Paul Golden of Marlinton, graduated from Edray
District High School. After attending Mary Bladwin Seminary and West
Virginia University, she graduated from Teachers' College at Columbia
University, NYC, in 1919. She married Paul R. Overholt and taught in the
Pocahontas County schools until her retirement. "Miss Fannie," as
she was affectionately known to her students, had an extensive doll collection
from around the world. Many of the dolls in her collection were donated to
the Historical Society and are on display at the museum.
